Indiana State University and Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen academic collaboration and create a clear pathway for SMWC graduates to pursue advanced studies in Athletic Training at Indiana State University.
The agreement, signed on November 24, 2025, at Indiana State University’s College of Health and Human Services, formalizes a partnership designed to facilitate the referral of qualified graduates from applicable undergraduate or pre-professional programs at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College to the Master of Science in Athletic Training (MAT) program at Indiana State University.
“This partnership underscores our shared commitment to expanding access to high-quality graduate education and preparing the next generation of healthcare professionals,” said Dr. Mike Godard, President of Indiana State University. “By working together, we can support students who are passionate about athletic training and help them build rewarding careers in a growing field.”
Brennan J. Randolph, President of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, noted the importance of the collaboration for SMWC students.
“With the growth of Pomeroy athletics in recent years and the addition of undergraduate programs such as kinesiology and exercise science, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College is excited to partner with Indiana State University to open pathways for highly prepared students into the Master’s in Athletic Training program,” said President Randolph. “We are proud of the success of our graduates that have proven themselves to be academically prepared for a graduate degree where they can take their career to a new level. “
The MOU reflects the institutions’ mutual goal of fostering academic partnerships that enhance student success, strengthen regional collaboration, and support workforce development in Indiana and beyond.
