One of the University’s most meaningful annual traditions, the Employee Recognition Ceremony celebrates the individuals who help make Indiana State an exceptional place for students to live and learn and a strong community in which to work. This year’s ceremony recognized 91 staff members for service milestones, honoring employees who have reached five-year intervals of service ranging from five to 40 years.
 
The ceremony also recognized the recipients of the University Medallion, Indiana State’s highest honor for staff members. The award is presented to employees whose commitment, leadership, and service have made a lasting impact on the University and the broader Wabash Valley community.
 
This year’s University Medallion recipients were:
 
  • Kathy Abernathy, Director of Budget Systems and Reporting 
  • Robert Barley, Chief Information Officer 
  • Craig Enyeart, Director of the Office for Student Support and Accountability 
 
Individually and collectively, this year’s recipients exemplify the Sycamore spirit through their service, resilience, and unwavering commitment to students and colleagues.
 
Abernathy was recognized for her leadership and steady stewardship in advancing financial systems and reporting processes that support the University’s long-term success. Her work has helped strengthen institutional planning and operational effectiveness across campus.
Barley was honored for his leadership in guiding Indiana State’s technology strategy and digital infrastructure, helping modernize systems and expand the tools that support teaching, learning, and campus operations.
 
Enyeart was recognized for his student-centered leadership and commitment to accountability, support, and care. His work has played a critical role in strengthening student advocacy and fostering a culture of support and responsibility across campus.
 
Together, the 2026 honorees reflect the dedication and excellence that drive Indiana State University forward. Their service, leadership, and commitment continue to shape the student experience and strengthen the University community.
