Indiana State University is proud to announce that the Indiana Commission for Higher Education has approved a new Bachelor of Arts in Sport Communication degree, which is now open for enrollment. This interdisciplinary program is a collaboration between the Communication Department in the College of Arts and Sciences and the Sport Management program in the College of Health and Human Services.

This interdisciplinary program is a collaboration between the Communication Department in the College of Arts and Sciences and the Sport Management program in the College of Health and Human Services.
The new Sport Communication major is designed to prepare students for careers in sports broadcasting, reporting, as well as brand and social media management through hands-on learning experiences. The unique partnerships across the state of Indiana offer ample opportunities for graduates of this program to secure employment in this field.
“Indiana is a state that lives and breathes sports, and Indiana State University is proud to build on that legacy,” said Dr. Melinda Roberts, Dean of Indiana State University College of Arts and Sciences.
In addition to covering strategic communication and media in sport, students can also learn about global developments in sport, social media management, and strategic management in sport.
“This major is a great example of how collaboration across colleges creates forward-thinking programs,” Roberts said. “By combining expertise from our Communication faculty in the College of Arts and Sciences as well as the Sport Management faculty in the College of Health and Human Services, students will benefit from hands-on learning experiences and industry connections, preparing them with the tools to succeed in one of the fastest-growing areas in communication.”
