This year, alumni and university supporters gathered for the 30th annual President’s Scholars Golf Outing and raised more than $70,000 to fund the continuation of the University’s most prestigious scholarship.

The event was presented by Ratio and hosted at the Brickyard Crossing Golf Course in Indianapolis.

Indiana State University President Mike Godard shared, “As I participated in my first President’s Scholars Golf Outing, I am deeply impressed by the dedication and generosity of our alumni and supporters. The event’s success showcases our firm foundation of support at Indiana State University. The funds raised will have a lasting impact, empowering our scholars to develop into future leaders who will positively influence both Indiana State University and our society as a whole.”

The President’s Scholarship is awarded to high-achieving leaders who are either incoming freshmen or transfer students in the undergraduate program. Award recipients are offered full in-state tuition and premium housing at Indiana State University. President’s Scholars study within the Honors College, which provides students the opportunity to experience professional development, conduct research, and participate in experiential learning in an environment conducive to academic development.

“I am so grateful for the generosity and support of our scholars shown by all of the participants in this amazing event,” said Greg Bierly, Dean of the Honors College. “The University has high hopes and expectations for this talented group of students. The financial resources and experiences provided by these donors and the President’s Scholarship enable our students to shine brightly and to develop the skills necessary to be confident and well-prepared as they enter their professional lives.”

This year, seven scholars participated in the outing, allowing them to gain leadership and networking skills and form connections with professional leaders from all over the region.

Analise Best, one of the scholars who participated in this year’s outing, is a senior studying communication sciences and disorders and music liberal arts. She has volunteered at the President’s Scholars Golf Outing for three consecutive years, and each year has given her time to participate as one of the putters on the Extra Putt hole of the outing.

“The President's Scholar Golf Outing has been exponentially rewarding to see the last three years," said Best. “Seeing familiar faces year after year shows how much they bleed blue and how much this life-changing program means to them. It is such a rewarding experience getting to thank the donors for how they have impacted my life while sharing stories and speaking for other President's Scholars to express our gratitude for donor generosity.”

“This year’s golf outing was yet another successful fundraiser thanks to the kindness and generosity of our donors,” said Andrea Angel, Vice President of University Advancement and CEO of the Indiana State University Foundation. “They show up year after year in support of our presidential scholars and offer our students a chance to meet leaders in a variety of industries. We are so incredibly grateful for the support of these donors and are already looking forward to the next outing.”
