ISU motorsports interns bring good luck to GM

Four Indiana State University students hit the ground running at the Texas Motor Speedway as part of an intensive three-day internship experience Nov. 3 - 5 with General Motors and Chevrolet. Students primarily enrolled in the university's new minor in motorsports management participated in the job shadowing activities.

Students from across globe share heritage during International Education Week

Indiana State University's fifth annual observance of International Education Week is Nov. 13-18. With more than 500 international students at ISU, representing 80 different countries, activities are intended to highlight the international diversity on campus; and the importance of learning about other cultures, says Randy Green, associate director of international student services.

Kindergarten readiness topic of community forum

Families with preschool age children are encouraged to attend an upcoming community forum entitled, "All About Your Child: Helping Your Child be Ready for Kindergarten," Nov. 16 at 5:30 p.m. at the Landsbaum Center for Health Education (1433 N. 6th St.). The forum is sponsored by the steering committee for Project BEST (Building for Effective School Transitions) at ISU.

Ground broken for "symbol of collaboration"

Terre Haute and Indiana State University officials broke ground today for the Cherry Street Multi-Modal Transportation Facility, a key component of downtown revitalization. The $13.4 million facility will provide 628 parking spaces and a new transfer facility for city buses. Combined with other downtown developments, the project is aimed at attracting more people and businesses to downtown Terre Haute. It is the latest example of an ongoing partnership between the university and the city.

Fairy tales are focus of Hoosier Folklore Conference

The Hoosier Folklore Conference and Hoosier Folklore Society annual meeting will be this Thursday and Friday (November 9-10) at ISU. This year's theme -- Fairy Tales and the Creative Imagination -- features a variety of lecturing scholars, including Maria Tatar, the John L. Loeb Professor of Germanic Languages and Literatures at Harvard University, and Jack Zipes, Professor of German, University of Minnesota.

ROTC cadets host Veterans' Day ceremony and vigil

Army and Air Force ROTC cadets from Indiana State University will host a Veterans' Day Wreath Ceremony at noon on Friday, Nov. 10; and a 24- hour vigil at the Vigo County Courthouse from 9 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 10, to 9 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11.

Phi Theta Kappa students invited to On-Campus Day

Indiana State University invites Phi Theta Kappa students and their families to find out how to continue their education at a special on-campus day Friday, Nov. 17 in Dede I, Hulman Memorial Student Union. The day's events begin at 9 a.m. EST and conclude about 2 p.m. EST.

Opera Workshop Performs Nov. 18 and 19

An evening of one-act operas will be presented by the Opera Workshop of Indiana State University on Saturday, Nov. 18 and Sunday, Nov. 19 beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the Recital Hall of the Center for Performing and Fine Arts on the ISU campus.
