On September 18, Indiana State University and the City of Terre Haute are proud to announce a new partnership that will expand workforce development opportunities for City employees through the University’s Preferred Partners program.

The Preferred Partners program at Indiana State University creates a unique, inclusive collaboration to strengthen professional development, continuing education, and other business relationships. As a Preferred Partner, companies and organizations can strengthen their employees’ knowledge base and skillsets in a collaborative setting to help make a positive impact in their workplace, communities, and the State of Indiana.

“Indiana State University prides itself on addressing workforce needs and providing professional development opportunities, which in turn help improve our economy locally and statewide,” said President Mike Godard. “Having the City of Terre Haute as a preferred partner is a monumental achievement. It highlights our longstanding partnership and collaborative commitment to help advance the West Central Indiana region.”

Preferred Partners receive several benefits, including a 15% discount off in-state tuition rates, waived enrollment deposits, customizable educational offerings, non-credit courses, and access to networking with staff and faculty about the latest industry trends.

Terre Haute Mayor Brandon Sakbun shared, “The City of Terre Haute is proud to enter into a Preferred Partner Agreement with Indiana State University. Our commitment to the Sycamores highlights the administration’s willingness to empower our staff members to pursue their educational goals and support Indiana State University. We are proud of Indiana State's recent progress and will continue to support them in the coming years.” 

The City of Terre Haute joins a growing list of over 50 Preferred Partners, including the State of Indiana, Indianapolis Airport Authority, Steel Dynamics, North American Lighting, several statewide school corporations, and law enforcement agencies.
