Indiana State University Art Galleries to Host Annual Exhibition Featuring Work by Senior Students
Story Highlights
Indiana State University has announced details on its annual Senior Show, which will feature work by students graduating from the Bachelor of Art (BA) and Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) programs in the Department of Art and Design.
The Senior Show, open through May 11, is the culmination point of a student’s journey studying art at Indiana State University. It signifies their ‘rite of passage’ into their next chosen path. The exhibition features work from areas of study, including art education, art history, ceramics, digital art, drawing, graphic design, painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture.
Each artwork encapsulates the knowledge, skills, and techniques these students have gained throughout their years at Indiana State University. Faculty members guide students in their primary area of concentration and advise them on which works to feature in the exhibition.
Tanmaya Bingham, Director of Indiana State University Art Galleries, said, “We are fortunate enough to be able to bring international and national professional artists to the galleries here at Indiana State University, but the exhibitions that feature work by our students are always a personal favorite of mine. When studying Art and Design, there are plenty of opportunities to showcase work in our galleries however this is arguably the most important as our students celebrate how far they have come during their time at Indiana State University.”
She added, “We have such fantastic artists on campus who are not afraid to break the mold. This exhibition is a perfect example of what makes their work stand out from the crowd. Remember their names, as I have no doubt that they will be ones to watch in the art scene.”
Student artists exhibiting their work include Zoe Booker, Erica Bowman, Tayler Commings, Trinity Cunningham, Shanine Delph, Sydney Denny, Grae Fulford, Gaven Golish, Stella Harrison, Kaimilani Matsumoto, Megan Matyi, Tierney McDonald, Nina Mims, Dean Morton, Chase Pondel, Alexis Pyszka, Ashlyn Siples, Freya Stroven, Camille Swaner, Kelbie Thompson, and Justina Yocom.
The BFA/BA Senior Show will be hosted in The Yang Family University Art Gallery through May 11. A reception evening will occur on May 2 from 4 pm to 6 pm, during which attendees can meet the students showcasing their work. This exhibition is free to attend and is open to the public Monday through Friday, 11 am—4 pm, with extended hours until 6 pm every Thursday.
