Indiana State University’s Board of Trustees on Wednesday approved priorities for ISU’s next strategic plantitled “Focusing on our Future Together: A Strategic Plan for Indiana State University, 2021-2025.”
The priorities:
--Prepare the workforce for Indiana and beyond
--Impact lives and communities
--Ensure equity and inclusiveness
--Increase institutional vitality, sustainability and performance
“We are excited to embark on this planning process during a critical time of significant change for higher education,” ISU President Dr. Deborah J. Curtis said. “I look forward to collaborating with campus leaders to continue to advance our campus.”
Over the coming months, campus leaders will engage the governance units and a broad spectrum of the campus stakeholders in formulating the new plan. The plan will include goals, initiatives, and metrics to gauge performance. Dr. Brad Balch, dean emeritus and professor of Educational Leadership at Indiana State, will lead the strategic planning process. Balch has more than 20 years of strategic planning experience and frequently advises school corporations and other entities throughout the Midwest on strategic planning.
A draft of the full plan will be shared with campus stakeholders and the trustees in February 2021 for feedback. In May 2021, trustees will be asked to endorse the final plan.
The current, five-year strategic plan runs through Fall 2021. The new plan will cover four years because of the rapidly evolving landscape of higher education and the anticipated reduction in the number of traditional college-age individuals.
