Story Highlights
Indiana State University continues to boast an outstanding business school in the Scott College of Business, based on rankings the Princeton Review released today.
The academic test preparation and admissions consulting company listed ISU's college in the 2011 edition of "The Best 300 Business Schools" which goes on sale today. Princeton Review's inclusion of the MBA program in the Scott College of Business is the fifth straight year that ISU receives the honor.
"We're very proud to be recognized for the work that both our faculty and our students put into this program," said Jeff Harper, director and professor in the Scott College of Business, "and we intend to continue the high quality efforts that have made this program so successful."
The rankings are based on results from surveys the Princeton Review conducted with alumni, students and faculty of MBA programs across the country, Harper said. The programs also give additional information that is utilized in the rankings process.
Some of the survey results are shared back with the MBA programs. Harper said that surveys indicated that people think the ISU faculty is "very, very engaged."
"Students here get to know individual faculty members," Harper said. "The faculty members get to know them, and they develop a very strong relationship in this very advanced, rigorous program."
The Scott College of Business has a student/faculty ratio of 18 to one. Through offered course work, the MBA program "emphasizes strategic thinking, problem-solving skills, organizational change, international business, and group dynamics," the Princeton Review wrote in the review of the MBA program.
The business school's profile in the Princeton Review includes a variety of information, such as topics that students surveyed agreed on the most. The topics included friendly students and solid preparation in general management, teamwork and doing business in a global economy.
ISU's inclusion in the rankings means that Princeton Review recommends the business program to readers of the book and users of its website, www.PrincetonReview.com, "as one of the best institutions they could attend to earn an MBA," according to Robert Franek, Princeton Review senior vice president of publishing.
The Princeton Review is also known for its guides to colleges and to standardized tests, its classroom and online test-prep courses, tutoring and other education services. The company is not affiliated with Princeton University, and it is not a magazine.
