Successful businesses know the importance of good customer service and so do successful business schools.
Indiana State University\'s Scott College of Business is working to better serve potential student customers by offering more classes and programs online.
The college already has three majors and three minors online and this fall will add a fully online bachelor\'s degree in marketing following approval by the Indiana Commission for Higher Education and the Higher Learning Commission.
\"We are truly becoming a full-service online provider of accredited undergraduate business programs,\" said Ken Brauchle dean of extended learning at Indiana State.
\"Indiana and the nation need more people with four-year college degrees if our businesses are to remain competitive in a global market. Online programs are a great way to help more people complete a bachelor\'s degree, especially those who for work and/or family reasons may find it difficult to attend traditional college classes,\" added Brien Smith, dean of the Scott College.
The new online degree program allows students to pursue a concentration in marketing management. It requires students to complete 27 credit hours (nine courses) beyond the college\'s core business courses. Six courses are required and students may choose three electives. Two of the required courses are already being offered this year and the remaining courses are planned for 2014-15.
\"Enrollment demand has been strong in the courses we are bringing online and we hope to see that increase as the program fully matures,\" said Paul Schikora, chair of the marketing and operations department in the Scott College.
Existing online degree programs offered by the college are majors in accounting, business administration, and insurance and risk management as well as minors in accounting, finance, and forensic accounting.Details about the new marketing degree and other online programs at Indiana State are available at www.indstate.edu/distance or by contacting the Office of Extended Learning at 812-237-2345.
