Sullivan grad wins Hines Medal

Terry Telschow of Sullivan will receive the Hines Memorial Medal during ISU's winter commencement. The medal is presented to the graduating senior or seniors with the highest cumulative grade point average.

Terry Telschow of Sullivan will receive the Hines Memorial Medal during Indiana State University's winter commencement at 2 p.m. Saturday (Dec. 19) in Hulman Center.

Named for Linnaeus Hines, who served as Indiana State's fourth president from 1921 to 1933, the award recognizes the graduating student or students with the highest cumulative grade point average.

Telschow has completed a bachelor's degree in physical education/exercise science at Indiana State and is pursuing a Ph.D. at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, La. He is head personal trainer and personal training manager at Anytime Fitness in Baton Rouge.

During his time at Indiana State, Telschow served an internship with Elmwood Fitness Center in Harahan, La., was an employee personal trainer and fitness consultant for Bemis Co. in Terre Haute and worked as a personal training manager at Stan's Nautilus fitness center in Terre Haute.
A President's Scholar at ISU, Telschow also received the Florence Memorial Scholarship and the Exercise Science Outstanding Senior Award. He also served as a Learning Community peer assistant.

He also worked at Sullivan High School as an assistant football coach in 2007-08 and assistant coach for girls track in 2008.
