Former Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand Korn Thapparansi will share his insights on global issues during a public lecture at the Cunningham Memorial Library at ISU Monday.
The lecture titled "Thailand on the World Map" takes place at 4 p.m.
Korn is chairman of the board of trustees of Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University in Thailand. He began his political career in 1974, and served as Thailand's deputy prime minister from 1998 to 2004 and as science and technology minister from 2004 through 2005. As minister in the Office of the Prime Minister for Energy, Investment and Tourism, Korn helped boost Thailand's tourism and investment growth industries.
He has extensive experience in the political structure of Thailand, was a member of parliament for the Nakorn Ratchasima Constituency and was instrumental in forming the Chait Thai Party.
In addition, Korn has been involved in the ministries of foreign affairs and public health. His vast and varied experience will be highlighted in his presentation, which will be in the events area of the library.
