TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Twenty-two students have been awarded Indiana State University's President’s Academic Excellence Scholarships. The honor includes full in-state tuition, renewable for seven additional semesters.
Academic Excellence Scholars must be ranked in the top 10 percent of their high school class or have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.7 on a 4.0 scale. Selection is highly competitive and based upon both academic and personal accomplishments, and an interview is required for all finalists. All incoming freshmen who are admitted to the University by Dec.1 are automatically considered for this scholarship. No additional application is required.

* Kyle Andrei, of Indianapolis, is the son of Diane and Ronald Andrei and a graduate of Ben Davis High School. He intends to major in radio/TV/film. During high school he was involved in National Honor Society and Giant 90.9 Radio.
* Sara Beckman, of Terre Haute, is the daughter of Kent and Kathy Beckman and a graduate of Terre Haute South Vigo High School. She plans on majoring in history. During high school she was involved in National Honor Society, Habitat for Humanity, marching band, Academic Super Bowl, Spanish Club and Drama Club, among others.
* Angela Borchelt of Trafalgar, is the daughter of Robert Borchelt and Elizabeth Hoegeman and a graduate of Indian Creek High School. She plans on majoring in pre-medicine. While in high school, she was involved in International Thespian Society, Mission Control, concert band, marching and pep band and Japanese Club.
* Marah Butler of Paris, Ill., is the daughter of Jeff and Tammy Taylor and Jeff Entrican. She is a graduate of Paris High School and plans on majoring in business at ISU. While in high school she was involved in National Honor Society, Student Council, French Club, Drama Club, band and cheerleading, among others.
* Abigail Carver of Hamlet, is the daughter of Kent and Lois Carver and a graduate of Oregon-Davis High School. She plans on majoring in business management. While in high school, she was involved in National Honor Society, volleyball, cheerleading, swimming, pep club and the school yearbook staff.
* Casey Clark of Overland Park, Kan., is the daughter of Tim and Diane Clark and a graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas High School. She intends to major in business and psychology at Indiana State. While in high school, she was involved in community service projects, National Honor Society, soccer team, summer camp counselor and futsai administrator.
* Cullen Cochran of Spencer, is the son of Charles and Kay Cochran and a graduate of Owen Valley Jr-Sr. High School. He intends on majoring in pre-medicine. While in high school he was involved in football, basketball, track, Student Council, National Honor Society and a volunteer at the YMCA.
* Aurora Dreyling of Danville, is the daughter of Rosie Dreyling and a graduate of the Indiana Academy for Science, Math and the Humanities. She intends to major in Spanish education while at ISU. While in high school, she was active in marching band, drama, chess club, drumline, Girls Scouts, Spanish Club and Spell Bowl.
*Kathryn Erickson of Dillsboro, is the daughter of John and Laura Erickson and a graduate of Rising Sun High School. While in high school she was involved in National Honor Society, Student Council, Spanish Club, Drama Club, and choir.
* Matthew Estep of Martinsville, Ill., is the son of Gary and Susan Estep and a graduate of Martinsville Jr.-Sr. High School. He intends to major in business at Indiana State. While in high school, he was active in Future Farmers of America, National Honor Society, Prevention Theatre, Future Business Leaders of America and a volunteer for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Vigo County.
* Stephanie Estep of Martinsville, Ill., is the daughter of Gary and Susan Estep and a graduate of Martinsville Jr.-Sr. High School. She intends to major in nursing at ISU. While in high school she was involved in Home Ec Club, cheerleading, Big Brothers Big Sisters, National Honor Society and her church youth group.
* Alyssa Jennings of Effingham, Ill., is the daughter of Steve and Jamie Jennings and a graduate of Effingham High School. She intends to pursue a journalism degree at Indiana State. While in high school she was involved with National Honor Society, French Club, Pep Club, Drama Club, fall plays, spring musicals and show choir.
* Kristina Maurer of Columbus, is the daughter of David and Cheryl Maurer and a graduate of Columbus East High School. She intends to pursue a degree in textiles, apparel and merchandising at ISU. While in high school she was involved in National Honor Society, French Club, Family Career Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), cheerleading, color guard, youth ministry, and served as a peer mentor.
* Alissa Miller of Evansville, is the daughter of James and Stacey Miller and a graduate of Reitz High School. While in high school she was active in marching band, honors band/orchestra, Hands of Joy puppet ministry, theater and National Honor Society.
*Rachel Posey of West Harrison, is the daughter of Randall Posey and Rhonda Posey and a graduate of East Central High School. She intends to major in elementary education at Indiana State. While in high school she was involved in Student Council, National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, church youth group and a member of the volleyball, basketball and track teams.
* Rachel Rose of Terre Haute, is the daughter of Daryl and Kathy Rose and a graduate of Terre Haute North Vigo High School. She intends to major in biology at ISU. While in high school she was involved in tennis, Interact, Knowledge Masters, Continentals, National Honor Society and a member of the fine arts Super Bowl team.
* Veronica Sanchez of Chicago, is the daughter of Greg and Christine Sanchez and a graduate of Lane Tech High School. She plans to pursue a degree in aviation at Indiana State. While in high school she was involved in Key Club.
* Emily Schepers of Ferdinand, is the daughter of Gene and Diane Schepers and a graduate of Forest Park High School. She intends to major in elementary education at Indiana State. While in high school she was involved in National Honor Society, Beat Club, Recycling Club, Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD), Art Club and Family Career Community Leaders of America (FCCLA).
* Lana Schrock of Toledo, Ill., is the daughter of Jeff and Robin Schrock and a graduate of Cumberland High School. While in high school she was involved in Student Council, Scholastic Bowl, Spanish Club, National Honor Society, band, Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD), and her church youth group.
* Kendall Seward of Marshall, is the daughter of Dan and Kelli Seward and a graduate of Turkey Run High School. She plans to major in pre-medicine at Indiana State. While in high school she was involved in Science Club, Drama Club, Foreign Language Club, National Honor Society, Peer Tutors, Fellowship of Christian Athletes volleyball, softball and band.
* Scott Taylor of Marshall, Ill., is the son of Dave and Susan Taylor and a graduate of Marshall High School. While in high school he was active in Scholastic Bowl, marching band, jazz band, pep band and concert band.
* Kelsey Throckmorton of Veedersburg, is the daughter of Robert and Debra Throckmorton and a graduate of Fountain Central High School. She plans to pursue a degree in accounting at Indiana State. While in high school she was involved in volleyball, softball, National Honor Society, Spanish Club, Art Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Student Council and editor of Hoofprints.
