ISU to host Student Packaging Jamboree with industry experts

Approximately 100 students from universities across the country will be at ISU for the Student Packaging Jamboree, April 6-8, 2006, to share ideas about packaging projects, and partake in seminars presented by industry professionals.

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Indiana State University is set to host the 18th annual Student Packaging Jamboree, April 6-8, 2006.

Approximately 100 students from universities across the country - including Michigan State, Clemson, Rochester Institute of Technology and Wisconsin Stout - will be at ISU this week to share ideas about packaging projects, and partake in seminars presented by industry professionals.

The primary day of the conference will be Friday, April 7, when packaging professionals from MSI Packaging, UPS Professional Services, Cognex, Wolf Technical Services and Eel River Marketing will discuss with students topics such as returnable containers, inspection equipment and soy marketing. The presentations and discussions will be from 10 a.m. to 2:10 p.m. in Hulman Memorial Student Union?s Dede II.

The keynote speaker will be Chris Doerr. He is the corporate manager of product training at WS Packaging and has 13 years of printing and packaging experience. He will speak at 7 p.m. April 7 at MCL Cafeteria in Terre Haute.

The Packaging Jamboree is a student-organized event and is hosted at a different school each year. This is the fourth time ISU has hosted the event. Members of the Student Institute of Packaging Professionals chapter at ISU were responsible for planning this year's event, collecting donations, and putting together a relevant speaker series. The event is also sponsored by the Industrial and Mechanical Technology Department at ISU. Several Indiana companies have donated funding to make this event possible.
