An Indiana State University graduate who has worked at her alma mater for more than six years has been named registrar of the university.
April Hay's appointment is effective June 15. An Indiana State employee since 2003, Hay has been interim registrar since December. She previously served as associate registrar and as assistant dean of the College of Graduate and Professional Programs.
As registrar, Hay will oversee the Office of Registration and Records, which is responsible for students' academic records, including grades, registration and classroom scheduling and ensures compliance with state, federal and university requirements. The registrar serves as a liaison for students, faculty and administrative units.
"I am excited about the opportunity to lead a great group of people as registrar. There are a lot of great things happening on campus and I hope our office can help play a key role as the university works to ensure that more students achieve their goal of completing a four-year college degree," Hay said.
"We are fortunate to have someone of our own to call upon to fill this important position," said Robert English, associate vice president for academic affairs. "April has the right combination of leadership, job skills and commitment to student success that will ensure the registrar's office serves the university as efficiently and effectively as possible."
Hay completed a bachelor's degree in business administration from Indiana State in 1996, a master of business administration degree in 2002 and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction.
